Thursday, September 25:
R. got up once, but he is not too tired. Cloudy weather; one’s thoughts turn gladly to Naples. All sorts of absurd things in the mail: a lady wishes to erect a conservatorium in Bayreuth, a gentleman in Kaufbeuren asks for a melody of his own to be turned into a march, and offers a telescope for it!
By rail a Spaniard who traveled to Munich to see the Ring; a lively, not unpleasant man. A very good English translation of Parsifal (so it seems to us), sent by Herr Schott.
R. continues writing his letter, and in the evening occupies himself by drawing lines for his score. Visit from the Spanish painter, much about Paris, about his native land. Thoughts of spending a winter in Seville as well. But R. gets tired of speaking French.
