Thursday, January 17:

R. works. I am occupied with accounts and the library. R. goes for a walk in the afternoon, returns home in good spirits, and does some work.

In the evening the history of the Arabs. After that Don Carlos, the scene between the Queen and Posa, moves us profoundly we pity people who no longer respond to it.
