Overview

R. finishes making his copy and receives encouraging news from Melbourne that Lohengrin has also been ceremonially introduced there. The day is bright and autumnal, but his health keeps him from enjoying it, and the evening is taken up with conversation about the periodical and the still-empty school applications.

Sunday, October 21:

R. completes his copy. He receives a letter from a theater director in Melbourne, according to which Lohengrin made its ceremonious entry there last month, too.

Splendid autumn weather, which R. unfortunately cannot enjoy. In the evening, friend Gross comes. There is discussion about the periodical; there have been no applications yet for the school.
