Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of November 6, 1869

Overview

Cosima writes to her mother and Claire while Richard declines Catulle's Paris proposal. She spends time with the children, buys steamship-company shares on Richard's advice, and is anxious about risking the children's money. Room arranging, weariness, Richard's illness, and another bad night with Siegfried end the day heavily.

Content

Saturday, November 6:

Wrote to Mama and to Claire. R. to Catulle, telling him he is not in favor of taking on anything at all. With the children. After lunch with Colonel Am Rhyn; on R.’s advice I buy 20 shares in the new steamship company. Very perturbed by it, since frightened of losing the children’s money.

After lunch arranged the rooms. Great weariness. R. unwell; on top of that, a very wretched night with Siegfried.
