Overview

The children occupied much of the day, and Fidi remained confined to bed. R. tried for a long walk but felt worse afterward, though he was fully engaged in his own work and ended the evening with more Herodotus.

Tuesday, October 2:

Work with the children. Fidi still in bed. R. tries to take a lengthy walk, but does not feel well afterward; his foot is paining him. But he says to me, “Mademoiselle Condrie is keeping me busy” - a sign that he is completely absorbed in his work.

In the evening read Herodotus.
