Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 1, 1877

Overview

The weather turns cold and R. remains unwell, though he continues to work and is considering changes to his diet. We receive encouraging correspondence about upcoming plans, and the day ends pleasantly with a duet rehearsal that brings praise from R.

Saturday, September 1:

Saint Giles’s Day. A change in the weather: it is cold. R. does not feel well and thinks he will have to alter his diet. The doctor does not know what is wrong, either.

Nice letter from the King, also from Herr von Wolzogen, saying a meeting is to be held here. R. would like to be absolved from allowing a performance by the Munich theater here. Herodotus in the evening. Together with Boni I play him Beethoven’s Sonata for Piano Duet; R. praises us both.
