Diary Entry of August 6, 1877

Overview

Her days are filled with lessons for the children and constant domestic work, leaving little uninterrupted time. In the evening she reads Lucian with R., enjoys the text, hears of another Russian defeat, and notes R.’s growing attention to plans for the school.

Content

Monday, August 6:

Resumed lessons with the children; my time until evening divided without interruption between them and the house. In the evening read Lucian with R. with much enjoyment. Lucius or the Ass recently made a great impression on him.

News that the Russians have again been heavily defeated! A merchant in Viersen, Herr Schmidt, has written an appeal to the patrons, very fine and moving. R. is much occupied with plans for the school.
