Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 11, 1877

Overview

A moving rehearsal leads to a serious discussion about the future, including the possibility of America and the end of any return to Germany. The writer then spends time at the British Museum and ends the day with a brief, playful moment of chance in the traffic of Regent Street.

Rehearsal, very moving. After this obliged to discuss our position with R. America? Then never again a return to Germany! . . .

Visit to the British Museum. On the homeward journey I saw R. in a cab in Regent Street; I went after him and finally caught up with him in the sea of vehicles. Laughter!
