Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 6, 1877

Overview

A letter from her father brings hopeful news for Hans, and she allows herself to wonder whether her prayers have had an effect. The same message also casts doubt on the London journey, and the day ends with more reading before turning to Goethe's poems.

Content

Tuesday, March 6:

My father sends me a letter from Herr Ullmann in which there is first of all mention of an important piece of news for Hans. Have my prayers been heard? Has he been vouchsafed a little friendliness? ...

In the same letter there is also talk of our journey to London, for which the auspices are not thought very favorable. Read Lassen in the evening. After that, poems by Goethe.
