Wednesday, February 28:

R. wrote busily yesterday evening and this morning as well, in order, as he told me, to give me a surprise. And at lunch he does indeed give me Parsifal, completed in prose dialogue; we drink its health at table, and in the afternoon I read it by myself. This is bliss, this is solace, this is sublimity and devotion!!
