Overview

Took the children to the Palazzo Doria and later examined antiquities in the Vatican with the talkative Professor Helbig. After another splendid drive to Monte Pincio, the day soured at the Teatro Valle, where a French play struck them as so vulgar they nearly left halfway through.

Tuesday, November 14:

Fine, mild weather; visit to the Palazzo Doria with the children; in the afternoon antiques in the Vatican with Prof. Helbig, who tends to lecture. After that Monte Pincio, again in splendid weather.

In the evening at the Teatro Valle, a French play, Te Doucin rose, so vulgar that we almost left in the middle of an act.
