Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of October 10, 1876

Overview

She marked the anniversary of first meeting R. in childhood and reflected on how many of the people from that time are now gone. The day was filled with lessons for the children, hours on a terrace above the olive grove and sea, and letters of thanks about the promised payment of her 40,000 francs.

Content

Tuesday, October 10:

Twenty-three years ago I saw R. for the first time, when he was led by my father to see us children; practically all those who were then with me are now gone.

Gave lessons to the children while R. was writing his address to the patrons. Spent the afternoon on the splendid terrace, from which one looks out over an olive grove and the sea. In the evening wrote to my father and to M. Tribert to thank them; my 40,000 francs are to be paid to me.
