The Duke of Meiningen dines with us; he has given Frau Materna a decoration. In the evening a large reception here. Saint-Saëns plays the piano. Marie Donhoff and her mother, Mme Minghetti, the latter very gifted.

Overview
The Duke of Meiningen dined with us and marked Frau Materna with a decoration, which lent the day a ceremonial air. A large reception followed in the evening, where Saint-Saens played the piano and Marie Donhoff with her mother, Mme Minghetti, especially impressed me.
