Overview

Content

Saturday, December 25:

I thank Heaven and earth for my existence, since I was given a mission and permitted to perform it, remorsefully I beg forgiveness for the suffering caused by me, and I will courageously bear what my courage refuses to put into words!

Breakfast with the children; birthday cake with candles, singing! R. unfortunately not well.

Yesterday he answered a letter from the editor of the Weser-Zeitung, who asked him whether he ought not reply to all the lies about him in the press. R. says that unless he were to do it for the honor of the press itself, he could let it rest, for the press, though it might hinder him, could not destroy him, as it would so much like to do.

In the evening read Dozy’s history of the Arabs.
