Overview

With Richard away, Cosima takes breakfast and the day with the children. A telegram reports that Richard is well but the situation remains uncertain, and she writes to him in the evening. She also warns Loulou strongly against dreams of the stage and singing by describing the profession in harsh terms.

Wednesday, September 1:

Breakfast and all else with the children; in the afternoon telegram from R., he is well, the situation, however, uncertain. I write to him in the evening.

During the day just a serious word to Loulou; since she tells me she would like to go on the stage and sing, I describe to her in glaring colors how awful this profession is.
