Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of October 1, 1875

Overview

Briickwald arrives after Brandt can no longer remain, and the talk continues to circle around practical troubles. At last a letter from Munich makes clear that the royal treasury wants a large share of the patronage certificates while only part of the funds can be kept, and even basic issues like free seats remain unsettled. In the evening Briickwald's account of a building association liquidating itself to buy back property under another name leaves everyone with the sense that fraud is everywhere.
