Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of August 26, 1875

Overview

The new governess for the children, Baumgarten-Crusius’s granddaughter, proves very agreeable, and the day is punctuated by visitors: Herr Schure and Mr. Lang from Boston at lunch, then a theater outing, and later Herr and Frau von Schleinitz. A repentant telegram from Richter closes the day with a sense of unfinished business.

Content

Thursday, August 26:

The children are working with their new governess, granddaughter of the headmaster Baumgarten-Crusius, whom R. knew at the Kreuzschule; her character pleases me greatly.

At lunch Herr Schure and Mr. Lang from Boston visited the theater with them. In the evening Herr and Frau von Schleinitz. Repentant telegram from Richter (attached to this page; see notes).
