Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of April 18, 1875

Overview

Exhaustion hung over the day, with the writer admitting to moments of being unable to keep going, yet there was still time for a rewarding outing to the Museum of Applied Arts and a pleasant encounter with Lothar Bucher. Meanwhile, R. resolved a long-simmering theater dispute with von Hülsen, bringing the matter to an unexpected close.

Content

Sunday, April 18:

Very tired; I feel at times I can no longer get through the day!... Went to the Museum of Applied Arts with Prof. Doepler, and saw many interesting things.

R. was with Herr von Hülsen yesterday and thus brought to an end a prolonged situation, stupidly fostered by the theater director, to the latter’s great surprise. Paid some calls (the Usedoms, etc.).

Spent some time quietly indoors, writing letters. In the morning saw Lothar Bucher again with great pleasure.
