Overview

Cosima spends the morning with the children and Goethe while Richard is exhausted by work. Richter arrives in the evening with continued Munich troubles, and Richard insists he must stand by his resignation while Hans is at Kochel. In bed, Cosima remembers Hans's inability to live in the country and worries for his health.

Tuesday, August 17:

Morning with children and Wanderjahre. R. exhausted by his work. In the afternoon work with the children. In the evening Richter. Still troubles in Munich. He has to stick by his resignation. Hans is in Kochel.

In bed I remember how incapable he is of living in the country, those terrible holidays in Klampenborg, and the bad weather on top of it. If only his health would improve!
