Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 6, 1874

Overview

Church was skipped because the children were unwell, and the day passed in correspondence, visits, and concern for the household. The arrival of Marie Schleinitz late at night shifted the atmosphere toward social and emotional matters that carried the day beyond ordinary routine.

Content

Sunday, September 6:

No church, the children not well, I write letters; around noon our friends Heckel and Zeroni, with whom R. goes for a walk, and who then join us in the evening.

At 11 o’clock I go to the railroad station to meet Marie Schleinitz. With her until around midnight. Affairs of the world and the emotions!
