Diary Entry of July 14, 1874
A new tenor is introduced, and the couple spends part of the day calling on a pleasant local family, keeping the social tone gentle and ordinary. Wagner then pushes through the third act of `Siegfried`, but the effort leaves him drained by evening.
Tuesday, July 14:
A tenor, Herr Unger, is introduced to us today, perhaps for Loge. With R. I paid a call on a very pleasant family here named Braun. Family lunch, with no guests. In the evening R. goes through the third act of Siegfried. He is very worn out by it.
