Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 17, 1874

Overview

Wagner works steadily while Cosima remains too ill to do much besides read and keep watch over the children. The afternoon brings a small social diversion with the children’s young guests, but the day ends inconclusively when they fail to find Pericles in the edition they planned to read.

Sunday, May 17:

R. orchestrates again; I do nothing much except look around, read with Loldi (German stories, etc.), and drag myself about, for I still feel very unwell. In the afternoon played with the children, since they had some young guests. In the evening we wanted to read Pericles, but could not find it in the Tieck-Schlegel edition.
