Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of November 7, 1873

Overview

Illness among the children colored the day, with Fidi unwell and Boni suffering from catarrhal jaundice, even as the weather stayed fine. There were house purchases, letters to write, and a reported apology from Wesendonck. Luther’s address to the German nobility in the evening impressed them greatly, though R. still seemed to regret not having persuaded a trip to Pest.

Content

Friday, November 7:

Fidi unwell, Boni ill with catarrhal jaundice, but fine weather and all kinds of gloomy thoughts! Made some purchases for the house; R. works; wrote letters (*Herr* Wesendonck has apologized); in the evening Luther; his address to the German nobility splendid! R. says, “I understand this prayer.”

R. seems to regret not having persuaded me to go to Pest.
