Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 25, 1873

Overview

September 25 passes quietly with more sittings, a little work on R.'s score, and a pleasant outing for the children with Malwida and R. The fair weather continues, and the children later rejoin the writer. In the evening R. hosts his Thursday gathering and reads two chapters from Nietzsche's pamphlet, much to the listeners' discomfort. Meanwhile the writer and Malwida finish reading the fifth volume of Uhland.

Content

Thursday, September 25:

Once again, sittings, and for R. a little work on the score. The weather continues fine; the children go for a drive with Malwida and R., and I catch up with them later.

In the evening R. has his Thursday gathering and reads aloud to the good people, somewhat to their dismay, two chapters from Nietzsche’s pamphlet. Meanwhile, with Malwida, I read Uhland’s fifth volume to the end.
