Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of August 22, 1873

Overview

The four girls went to Fantaisie, leaving the diarist alone with Fidi, who made his first independent visit to Malwida. In the afternoon the diarist received the dean and his curate, an irritating theologian who nevertheless admired Wagner. The evening was spent reading The Myth of Thor with Malwida. R. then read Harbard's song from the Edda, bringing great joy in these mythic studies.
