Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of August 12, 1873

Overview

Bad weather suggested that summer was ending, while the Thursday group sent poetic greetings to R. on their mountain outing. Domestic errands and house troubles filled the day, and in the evening Prof. O.'s pamphlet was read. R. interrupted the reading to embrace the diarist and speak warmly of home life. He also corrected the proofs of his ninth volume.

Content

Tuesday, August 12:

Bad weather, I believe our summer is over. R. receives several greetings in rhyme from his companions at the Thursday gathering, who are missing him on their outing in the Fichtel Mountains.

All sorts of house errands and house difficulties. In the afternoon, to the house, and in the evening Prof. O.'s pamphlet.

While I am reading, R. interrupts me and embraces me: “I am always astonished in my home. All the rest doesn’t matter, and also doesn’t upset me.” He corrects his 9th volume.
