Content

Tuesday, June 15:

R. had a bad night, which distresses me very much; I also fear that he will not start working out his sketches in the near future. Letter from Hermine, the children well and enjoying themselves. Eva blossoming here and Siegfried developing. I dressed, but am still very weak.

Letter from Richter with the news that Hans has demanded his dismissal on the grounds of ill health! R. already knew. I write at length to Hans in great concern. Final attempt at an understanding.

With R. in quiet and earnest mood. Will I be granted the boon of seeing Hans at peace? In the evening Don Quixote; I fall asleep and am very weary.
