Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of April 12, 1873

Overview

The final visit with friends is framed by farewell, music, and practical arrangements. Wagner continues to perform and discuss Götterdämmerung, while the user handles staging and theater logistics for an upcoming event. A letter from Milan adds a small note of vindication, confirming that the earlier disruption there was effective.

Saturday, April 12:

Last day with our friends; in the evening Prof. Nagelsbach joins us.

In the afternoon R. plays passages from Götterdämmerung. I talk to the theater director, etc., in order to arrange something for the 22nd.

Letter from the good Mme Lucca in Milan; they really did succeed in bringing the curtain down and disrupting the last performance.
