Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 13, 1873

Overview

The day is defined by clearing weather, family walks, and a domestic atmosphere briefly lifted by shared conversation and letter writing. Yet the household is shadowed by R.'s poor health, which tempers the calm. The entry closes with an evening of reading that blends admiration for art with discomfort at its moral uses.

Thursday, February 13:

All the mists dispersed! R. says there is only one unhappiness, and that is when we are not entirely of one mind. Walks with all the children, morning and afternoon. In the evening wrote to M. Meysenbug and then conversed with R., who is unfortunately not feeling well.
