Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 28, 1872

Overview

R. was honored in Florence by election to the Royal Academy, and a medal maker from Brussels immediately wrote asking to mint a coin of him. With Tristan scheduled in Munich that night, he was excited but also not feeling entirely well, so he took a bath at my urging. He worked and played me wonderful passages, and we ended the day with our usual pleasure in Gibbon.

Friday, June 28:

R. made a member of the Royal Academy in Florence. A medal maker writes to me from Brussels, also wanting to make a coin of R.

This evening is Tristan in Munich: “If my friends only knew how I feel on such occasions!” says R. R. works and plays me the splendid things. Unfortunately, however, he is not quite well. I advise him to take a bath, which he does. In the evening Gibbon, always with enjoyment.
