Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 23, 1872

Overview

Letters from Schure and the publisher Lucca showed continued interest in Bayreuth, and Lucca was taking up two patronage certificates. R. worked while I stayed with the children, and news arrived that the Grand Duke of Weimar was offering his orchestra for Bayreuth. We took the children to dancing lesson and returned home on foot under lovely moonlight. The evening closed with the first two of Nietzsche’s Basel lectures, giving the day a serious intellectual end.
