Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 7, 1872

Overview

The day passed quietly with both of them working, each writing letters and attending to obligations. R. struggled with the disruption of their household, while she handled correspondence and matters for the children. In the evening, they briefly looked through a copy of Caroline and found it disappointing and thin.

Content

Wednesday, February 7:

A good night. I write, and R. too, he in connection with the Ninth Symphony, and I to Lenbach about his latest sketch, then to my father, and so on.

R. goes to town; the breaking up of our household is giving him trouble. In the evening I glanced a little through Caroline: very pitiful stuff!
