Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of December 27, 1871

Overview

Wagner writes to the King while Cosima handles many letters, and Professor Hirzel's visit brings pleasant conversation. Lindau's invitation to contribute to a review irritates Wagner through its fashionable foreign terminology alone. Bratfisch sends souvenirs of Tausig, keeping the lost friend present in the household's year-end correspondence.

Content

Wednesday, December 27:

R. writes to the King, and I write many various letters. For lunch Professor Hirzel, a former acquaintance of R.’s. Pleasant conversation throughout the day.

In the morning a letter from Herr Lindau, inviting R. to contribute to a review; the foreign words essays, which he uses, and review are quite enough for R. Herr Bratfisch sends us souvenirs of poor Tausig.
