Saturday, December 10:

On behalf of what, of whom are these battles supposed to have been fought? Possibly on your behalf, journalists and literati. Let us first begin to realize what wretched people we are, and whether it would be worth the trouble of wasting one shot of powder on behalf of, say, the protege of the Allgemeine Zeitung. For the present these victories still belong quite solely to those who won them, quite definitely neither to the Jacobys nor to the H. Linggs etc.
